On Down the Road
(Big thanks to Izzyontour.com for maintaining the Izzy Concert Almanac for so many years!)
04.15.2000 - Tokyo, Japan, Shibuya Public Hall
Set: Ride On, California, Spazed, Primitive Man, Needles, The Groper, Here Comes The Rain, Blues, Hometown, 117*, Shuffle It All, Surf Roach, Drum Solo, Parasite, Pressure Drop, Trance Mission, Memphis, Pills, Chinese Rocks, California Sun
Info: The first show of Izzy Stradlin under his name, and the first since seven years with his own band. A great set including almost every song from Ride On album (except Highway Zero). Duff McKagan plays bass and also sings lead vocals in Chinese Rocks while Rick sings Diddley's classic called Pills like he used to do in Ju Ju Hounds years. Taz plays a great drum solo before Parasite. An incredible performance of Primitive Man with Duff on backing vocals what gave this song much more power. Before Hometown Richards played a fantastic guitar solo which was mainly build on the slow part of Here Comes The Rain song.
04.19.2000 - Osaka, Japan, Kosei Nenkin Hall
Set: Ride On, California, Spazed, Primitive Man, Needles, The Groper, Here Comes The Rain, Hometown, 117*, Shuffle It All, Surf Roach, Drum Solo, Parasite, Pressure Drop, Trance Mission, Memphis, Pills, Attitude, Honey Hush, California Sun
Info: Duff sings lead vocals on Misfits' Attitude - same as he did in Guns N' Roses Era. Before California Sun the band plays Honey Hush, originally performed and written by Big Joe Turner (later also played by Jerry Lee Lewis, sir Paul McCartney and Fleetwood Mac, who played it under the name Hi Ho Silver). The audio recording is cut at the end of the show. Izzy's brother was filming this show with handheld. Before the show in a room atop a high-rise hotel in Osaka, Izzy wrote a country-tinged rave-up called Far Below Me Now which was later put on River album.
04.21.2000 - Nagoya, Japan, Club Quattro
Set: Paradise City [encore]
Info: Not sure if Paradise City was really played on this show but one of the fans who has been on other Japanese shows said they really did - this guy named Alex taped shows in Tokyo and Osaka. This show was probably played at Aichi Kinrou Kaikan where Ju Ju Hounds played their show seven years earlier. For Duff and Izzy concerts on Japan Tour 2000 were the first together since 1991 when they played in Guns N' Roses, so right now they were thinking about playing some GNR tunes, Izzy: "Since I left, I've never played any Guns N' Roses songs. I played in Japan one time with Duff and we tried Paradise City but we couldn't do it and keep a straight face".
